It was in the year 2005 that the RiNo Art District was formed in an effort of uniting the 25 artists as well as five art studios and galleries in the area which had been just called recently as the River North in the City of Denver. After 10 years, the art district got the creative district certification. The certification was actually given by the Colorado Creative Industries and this also formed a couple of new special taxing districts in order to fund the efforts.
